Forum: forums Subject: Re: How to order uploaded files?

Is there a specific way to upload our next files where we can get them in the order we specify? We want to add some historical movie clips that we have at [example website] into the archive. I am also wondering if words in the file names will help with the search system?

Files within an item are sorted alphanumerically the same way you would see them in an ftp listing. This is an issue for live shows uploaded here, where track order matters, and so live show fans use naming rules, example
http://wiki.etree.org/index.php?page=NamingStandards
(note the progression of t01, t02 .... t11; *not* t1, t2... t11.)

Perhaps you can devise a naming scheme that will work for your own set of files. It will depend on the type of your material. If it's in dated sequence, that is one number series you could use.

Looks like the requested links are done- not sure how about sorting others you may have though. It could depend on the identifiers you choose: foobar1, foobar2 can sort differently from foobar1, foobar.2 (note the punctuation in there).
